LINE ART + SHADING → EDITABLE LAYERS

How to extract line art and shading layers in Photoshop

Source-Aligned Line Art + Shading creates Base Color, Shadow, Highlight, and Line Art layers at the source image coordinates. This decomposition runs only on the local CPU and costs 3 tickets.

Source-aligned workflow

  1. Generate and review Masking from the artwork
  2. Reselect the flat source layer
  3. Run Source-Aligned Line Art + Shading
  4. Review Base, Shadow, Highlight, and Line Art

CPU-only processing

The Source-Aligned action does not send the artwork to OpenAI or Gemini. Masking generation is a separate action that uses OpenAI. This workflow extracts editable roles from the input image and does not generate replacement artwork.

Limits

Source-Aligned does not currently guarantee pixel-exact recomposition and does not restore the artist's original line-art or shading layers. Review the output against the retained source artwork.

Frequently asked questions

Does line-art extraction use generative AI?

The Source-Aligned action itself is CPU-only. Masking is generated separately with OpenAI.

Does it guarantee pixel-exact recomposition?

No. Compare the output with the retained source artwork before editing.
