PIXEL-EXACT LAYER DECOMPOSITION

What is pixel-exact layer decomposition?

In LayerUnfold, pixel-exact means that the finished result matches the input artwork pixel-for-pixel under the supported conditions.

Verification status: Public validation with the released Photoshop plugin is in progress. This page does not claim a completed 0-pixel product benchmark.

Verify that separation preserves the artwork

Separating an image should not force an artist to accept color shifts, softened edges or a second interpretation of the artwork. LayerUnfold keeps the decomposition editable inside Photoshop and evaluates recomposition against the original decoded pixels.

Comparison conditions

  • The supported input image and the finished LayerUnfold result
  • Matching image dimensions and supported document mode
  • Pixel mismatch count and maximum channel error
  • The recorded plugin and Photoshop test versions

Exact pass condition

A run passes only when mismatched_pixels == 0 AND max_abs_channel_error == 0. The comparison uses decoded pixels, not the encoded file bytes.

What this does not mean

LayerUnfold does not recover the historical layer structure of the source PSD, and this definition is not a claim that every format, color mode or bit depth is supported. The proprietary decomposition algorithm and parameters remain private; the reproducible verification conditions and results are the public evidence.

Try it in Photoshop

Get the CCX plugin, open the LayerUnfold panel in Photoshop, authenticate in your browser and run the decomposition inside Photoshop.
